Anticipating deadlines of a 5-star startup Swedish Boat Builder​

Scaling up at 100 knots with Recrewit!

Recrewit has been selected from an ambitious electric boat building company in Sweden, which was looking to scale up fast. They needed experienced laminators, who could be brought on and start work to a high standard right away. 

We personally visited their facility, and spoke to them and their existing staff to find out exactly what gaps there were, and what they needed. We helped find the right staff for them in two phases: 

  • Permanent backbone: With orders booked for the next 5 years and loads of customers’ requests they had to turn down, the company needed to increase their permanent workforce in order to increase production rapidly and meet the deadline. Due to location and skill-shortage locally, Recrewit selected and recruited skilled personnel from all across Europe to go on a 6 months fixed-term contract, converting into permanent if there was a match. The fixed term contract was instrumental for those who were thinking of living and working in Sweden, since it gave them the time to evaluate their options and meant that it wouldn’t be such a drastic change than moving on their own for a perm role within an unknown country and company. We helped them with the logistics, we found accommodation and we partnered up with a local payroll company, issuing 6 months contract in compliance with all Collective Labor Agreements.
  • External Consultants (Temporary workers): Although we Increased the permanent backbone, the company was still behind schedule, so, we sourced and selected a number of skilled consultants (mainly laminators/boatbuilders), with immediate availability and years of experience in the industry. Out of hundreds of potential applicants, we identified 41 who might be right for the role, and conducted preliminary interviews and personality tests to ensure they were a good fit for the company, its goals, and its values.

Overall, these two phases combined involved:

  • Contacted: 816 People
  • CV Sent: 41
  • Interviews from CV sent: 78%
  • Offers after interviews: 81%
  • Placements post offers: 88%
  • 75% of the fixed-term employees converted to permanent, with some of them promoted to team leaders role.

We sat in on all interviews, to fully understand what the client needed, and what the role could offer to potential candidates; it was an absolute success!

After six months, we had placed over 20 experienced laminators; the client was enthusiastic of how things developed, since the expert consultants increased production volume and quality, which allowed the company to meet deadlines, whilst boosting up their permanent team.

We helped bring production up to speed faster than the client’s predicted timeline, helping them complete vital projects that can make or break a young business, and in their own words ‘Recrewit was a fundamental factor” in their success.
